Underpinning

The underpinning of foundations involves increasing the depth of existing foundations in order to transfer the building load to a more supportive soil.

Traditional mass concrete underpinning

A common method of underpinning is the use of mass concrete. We will excavate the ground below your foundations in controlled stages called ‘pins’. Once the required bearing strata is reached concrete is poured and left to cure. Once cured the next pin is then excavated and concreted.

Beam and base underpinning

This is the use of a reinforcement beam. Its installed to transfer a structures load to mass concrete bases, which are constructed at design strategic locations.

Mini piles

When ground conditions are variable, access restricted or loads are required to be transferred into stable soils at considerable depths mini piles will the option for you.

Underpinning using expanding resin

A more modern method of underpinning is the injection of expanding resin. This method involves the injection of a structural resin and hardener mix, or strengthening grout, that chemically reacts to expand and compact weak soil. This method will raise and re-level a structure.
